Bespoke Jeweller Donates Rare Gemstone worth £10,000 which is to be Raffled for Charity
A rare Tanzanite gemstone worth £10,000 will be the centrepiece at a fundraising event held at Ripley Castle for wounded and sick personnel at Catterick Garrison.
Bespoke jewellers, Stoners of Harrogate has donated the spectacular stone for an exclusive raffle at the glittering “The Jewel in the Crown” event on Saturday 28 April. The night, hosted by Harrogate’s fundraising Crystal Committee, will raise money for the Phoenix House Personnel Recovery Centre at the North Yorkshire military base.
The Army-led Personnel Recovery and Assessment Centre, which is being built in partnership with Help for Heroes, is the largest facility of its kind in the UK and provides support for injured and sick soldiers and their families. Proceeds from the raffle will be spent on specialist rehabilitation equipment for the centre.
Christopher Stoner, owner of Stoners of Harrogate, said: “These servicemen and women have put their lives on the line for our country, so they deserve a great deal of care and support when they return home. For this reason I’ve donated a special stone to a special cause”.
“Tanzanite is a rare gemstone which is exclusive to its African country namesake. We will craft the precious stone into a unique jewellery masterpiece for the lucky raffle winner.”
What do you do with your wedding ring when you’re no longer married?
It’s a question we often get asked. There is no right or wrong answer.
If you no longer want a reminder of the past then you could sell both your engagement and wedding ring and put the money towards a new piece of jewellery. So you part exchange the ring you don’t want for a piece of jewellery you do want
Alternatively our award winning design team could design a new piece of jewellery for you using the metal and stones from your engagement and wedding ring. For more information please get in touch with our design specialists on 01423 561458 or via enquiries@stonergroup.co.uk
Harrogate Power Cut Forced Businesses to Close on Busiest Shopping Day of the Year
Businesses and homes across Harrogate, North Yorkshire, lost power on Saturday. This forced many businesses, including ourselves, to close early.
We, at Stoners of Harrogate, lost power at 2.30pm on Saturday which meant that we had no lighting, heating, payment facilities and most importantly our security was affected – which is really worrying for a jewellery store such as ours.
As a member of the steering committee for the Harrogate Town Centre Development Group, a key objective of the group is to encourage shoppers to “buy local”. So it was a shame that Harrogate encountered this problem on one of the busiest shopping days of the year as it probably forced some shoppers to visit nearby city centres.
Fingers crossed Harrogate doesn’t have a repeat performance of this black-out!
Does Size Matter When it Comes to Diamonds?
What’s the first thing you think about when purchasing a diamond? The colour, clarity or the size?
Some people may argue that the size of a diamond is the most important factor. But there are a couple of things you should also think about when purchasing a diamond -the clarity, cut, and colour.
We, at Stoners of Harrogate, often advise customers to go for a better quality stone as opposed to the biggest one. The colour of a diamond can be so important. Next time you’re in a jewellery store have a look at the colour of the diamond rings – does it look a little yellow? The poorer the colour of the stone the more yellow it becomes in its appearance.
An interesting issue to note is that the size of the stone is often a misleading term. It’s the carat value that’s important which relates to the weight not the size of the diamond but I’ll save this discussion for another time……..
Stoners of Harrogate’s experienced team are on hand to help with any diamond related questions via enquiries@stonergroup.co.uk or on 01423 561 458.
How much should a man spend on an engagement ring?
This is the age old question that many men worry about. Isn’t the answer simply that a man should spend the equivalent of three month’s wages? It is difficult to apply such a narrow answer to such an open question. Everybody’s circumstances and points of view on the matter are different. It also depends on whether the bride to be is a jewellery fan! If she is then perhaps their expectations might be higher.
An engagement ring is an important purchase, so there can be a lot of pressure for men to choose the right ring at a price they are comfortable with. There is hope though, as the Stoners of Harrogate team use their 30 years of experience to help guide men through the engagement ring buying process. As specialists in designing and making beautiful jewellery, Stoners of Harrogate ensure your bride to be receives the perfect ring within the desired budget – what more can you ask for!
The Rise of Men’s Engagement Rings
Surely it only seems fair that men have the opportunity to wear a beautiful engagement ring as well as their bride-to-be.
Increasingly men are choosing to wear an engagement ring. Perhaps this is a symbol of their commitment to getting married. It might be that their future wives prefer that they wear an engagement ring. Or maybe it just boils down to women starting to take the bull by the horn and proposing to men. And why not!
Whatever the reason, the Stoners design team have certainly seen a rise in the number of men asking for bespoke engagement rings.
