A Christmas Marriage Proposal
What are your thoughts on a Christmas proposal?
We’ve designed and handmade a stunning diamond engagement ring for someone recently who intends to propose to his fiancée on Christmas Day. He plans to put the ring in a cracker and propose in front of his whole family. At least this saves the couple having to ring all their relatives telling them the good news! He is quite nervous about getting down on one knee in front of everyone but both he and his fiancée are very close to their family.
So look out ladies, it might be you. Check the contents of your crackers as there might be a surprise waiting for you.
Wedding Fair at Ripley Castle
We love meeting brides-to-be and hearing all about their wedding plans. We did just that at the Ripley Castle wedding fair yesterday. We met some lovely brides and some great wedding suppliers.
We’re really looking forward to meeting the brides again and designing and making their wedding rings for them. Creating the perfect wedding rings for a couple is so just exciting.
Stoners’ £25k Marie Curie Pledge
At our Stoners’ Harrogate launch earlier this year, we launched our pledge to raise £25,000 to fund a Marie Curie nurse for a year. Attached is a video shot at the launch event showing interviews with a number of key attendees at the event.

STONERS RAISE A SPARKLING AMOUNT FOR LOCAL CHARITY
We’ve raised over ₤5,000 for Yorkshire based charity the PPR Foundation.
We were fortunate enough to be able to donate a limited edition diamond pendant worth ₤3,950 as an exclusive raffle prize at the Crystal Ball, a fundraising event held at Ripley Castle on Saturday May 14.
We’re really happy that the pendant raised a total of ₤5,100 for the PPR Foundation, a charity which funds brain tumour research.
The limited edition pendant is handmade in 18ct white gold and set with 44 amazing D-colour diamonds. The pendant holds significant value to Chris as it is the first piece from a new limited edition collection of jewellery entitled “Outline”, which has been designed and made exclusively by Stoners.
The lucky winner of this stunning pendant was Bridget Cornick from North Yorkshire. Congratulations Bridget!
A War Hero, A bus Ride and a Watch Battery
Just thought you might like to hear the reason why Stoners do free watch batteries for the over 80′s….
Back in 2009, Chris Stoner served an elderly gentleman in our Shipley store who had come in to ask for a replacement watch battery. The gentleman was out of sorts and quite upset. When Chris asked if he was ok, he explained that he’d had a dreadful morning, starting with his bus journey into town.
He went on to explain that as he’d shown the bus driver his bus pass and set off to find a seat, the driver had set off without waiting for him to sit down. This caused him to fall over on the bus and hurt his wrist.
And it didn’t stop there….whilst walking through town he was then verbally abused by some youths. He was visibly upset and shaken by his morning’s experiences.
Chris was extremely moved by the gentleman’s plight and over a coffee discovered that he’d fought in the second world war and had a fabulously brave and inspirational life story to tell. Our customer left a happy man with a free watch battery fitted into his watch for him and from that day on, Stoners do free watch batteries for all people over the age of 80.
Chris decided that we should do our bit, however small, to show our respect and gratitude for the sacrifice many people of that generation made for us.

Bupa Great North Run Challenge
Chris and Sarah have managed to convince a number of close friends and family to join them in running the Great North Run in September in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The aim is to raise £10,000 which would make a hefty dent in their total fundraising target of £25,000 this year!
To support the Stoners team – Chris, Sarah, Jon, Clive, Sandra, Ryan and Danny – then please go to www.justgiving.com/stoners and give as much as you can afford.
With many thanks from

One-Carat Spectacular Coming Soon!
In 2010 we held four one-carat events at our Shipley store where our customers were able to secure one-carat diamonds at stunning prices. The events were so successful that we’ve been under pressure ever since to do it again!
It’s taken a few months of negotiations with our two favourite diamond suppliers, but we’ve at last been able to secure the right diamonds at the right price and our next event is planned.
On Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd April, we will be hosting a one-carat event in our Shipley store. There will be a large selection of quality one-carat diamond jewellery, including rings, earrings and pendants with up to 75% off the normal retail prices.
Based on our experience last year, demand is expected to be high, so we are encouraging our customers to contact us early to try and secure their diamonds before the event is advertised to the general public.
Call Victoria on 01274 588112 or Chris on 01423 561458 to find out more. Alternatively, send us an email and we’ll get back to you to to discuss your individual requirements.
